Pink Banana
The Pink Banana, musa velutina is an attractive plant, that originates from India.
It has large dark green leaves which have a pink/purple central rib. The palm also produces small pink bananas (these are inedible).
It is one of the smaller banana palms, growing to a final height of less than two metres.
Because it likes lots of water, the Pink Banana is often grown bordering ponds. It also prefers quite a lot of sun and fertile soil. It is also often grown indoors.
It can be grown either from seed or from rhizomes.
The flowers make a good centerpiece for a cut flower display.
