Zebra grass - Miscanthius sinensis zebrinus - is a variegated grass, but unusually the lighter variegated stripes run around the leaves rather than along the leaves.
It grows quickly to 2 metres in height (not clear in this picture because the bottom half is invisible behind other planting).
Although quite easy to grow and vigorous it is easily controlled and not too invasive for the surrounding planting.
In the late summer, the flower stalks have attractive 'silver with a hint of pink' heads.
The plant is quite tolerant of different soil conditions, but does prefer a lot of sunshine.
